Description:
Diacamma rugosum is an Asian ant species that is very active outdoors. They have a high protein requirement and need constant access to animal protein. Insects are stunned and killed with their stinger. With larger food sources, workers are often seen running in tandem to the food source.
In humans, the sting can lead to short-term local pain reactions at the sting site.
Diacamma rugosum do not have queens; instead, workers lay the eggs. After the death of the queen, it is possible in the wild for a newly hatched worker to mate and start laying eggs.
Development:

Quantity:
one fertilized queen with workers (see selection); brood (depending on the season and development)
