Description: Our Gypsum nest with prefabricated passages and chambers is suitable for many ant species, especially for species that build their nests in very sandy or stony soils. It has two connection sockets as nest access. Gypsum has the property of absorbing water, so a certain amount of moisture is stored. Nevertheless, the Gypsum nest should not be used permanently moist because otherwise it can lead to mold (by food remains or excrement of the ants). Therefore, if possible, species from rather dry regions should be kept here. This would be, for example, species from Mediterranean or desert regions.
Note: Due to the construction, they are not suitable for very small species (e.g.: Pheidole species, Temnothorax species), gaps of 0.3 - 0.5mm can occur.
Note on the connection sockets
When attaching or detaching hoses, please note the following:
If the tubing is very difficult to fit onto the connector socket, the socket should be lightly rubbed with a drop of our breakout protection oil or powder. The hose should then be pushed onto the socket by twisting or screwing movements, without loading the socket with up and down movements. The same applies when removing the hoses from the connection socket. Please do not simply pull off!
